15/17-7-08 Nissan Hydrogen Fuel Cell vehicle

Two member of SERC were invited to the Nissan hydrogen fuel cell event in London and weere able drive the X-Trail.

Staff took part in the KEF West meeting in the OpTIC Technium St Asaf.

28-2-08 Welsh Energy Summit meeting in City Hall, Cardiff

SERC was represented at the Energy Summit at which The First Minister the Right Honerable Rhodri Morgan AM and the Minister for Environment Sustainability and Housing Jane Davidson AM presented the Renewable Energy Route Map for Wales for consultation.

A member represented the UK at the International Energy Agency task 21 Biohydrogen meeting in Porto, Portugal

6-2-08 Materials Action Programme Workshop, Wrexham

SERC staff presented technical guidance on Anaerobic Digestion at the Materials Action Programme for Capital Grant Programme Guidance Workshop at NEWI, Wrexham

23-1-08 European Low Carbon Challange Project meeting Prague

A memebr of SERC attended the kick-off meeting of the British Council's Low Carbon Challenge Project in Prague

18-1-08 Institute of Welsh Affairs conference (IWA) Llandudno

Uniting the Nation a conference on the difficulties of travel between North and Sout Wales was held in Llandudno and included a presentation for a member of the Hydrogen Reserach Unit on a possible 'hydrogen highway' for the future.

6-11-07 IChemE seminar London

Advances in biological hydrogen production was the subject of the presentation given by a member of the Hydrogen Research Unit at the IChemE seminar "Towards a Hydrogen Economy".

24-10-07 Meeting of the Scientific Advisory Committee of UNIDO-ICHET

A member from the Hydrogen Research Unit took part in the SAC for UNIDO-ICHET in Istanbul Turkey.

21/24-10-07 International Workshop, University of Aarhus, Denmark

A staff member attended the workshop on on Microbial Life under Extreme Energy Limitation in Denmark

17-10-07 Hydrogen Developments in Japan and Wales, Angel Hotel, Cardiff

The work on hydrogen at the University of Glamorgan and in Japan was presentted to a small audience in the Angel Hotel Cardiff.

8/15-10-07 Visit to Japan

A member of the Hydrogen Reserach Unit visited Japan organised by International Business Wales. Presentations at two meeting plus media interviews and meetings with key Japanese personnel in the hydriogen and related fields filled the time.

9-10-07 TSEC Theme 3 Uncertainty workshop, University of Surrey

Staff attended the TSEC workshop held at the University of Surrey. The purpose of this particular workshop is to ensure a common and co-ordinated approach to the contribution of the different TSEC-BioSys Topics to the sustainability assessment.

Staff took part in the 11th IWA specialist conference on anaerobic digestion AD11 in Brisbane Australia.

18/19-07-07 Supergen Workshop, Oxford

The University of Glamorgan's two Supergen projects, UK-SHEC and BioFC were the reason for staff attending the Supergen Workshop at Keble College Oxford.

17-07-07 Graduation day for Godfrey Kyazze

Godfrey Kyazze received his doctorate degree today at a ceremony at the University of Glamorgan. Congratulations Godfrey! See a photo here.

12/16-7-07 International Hydrogen Energy Conference, Istanbul

A presentation about the hydrogen related work in Wales was made at the IHEC 2007, Istanmbuil, Turkey. The Conference was organised through UNIDO-ICHET.

A paper about the Baglan Renewable Hydrogen Reserach and Demonstration Centre was given at the H2Net meeting at DTI, London.

13/15-06-07 BioFC meeting Glasgow

The third meeting of collaborators for the EPSRC SUPERGEN Biofuel cells Consortium was held at Glasgow University.

12-06-07 WERC meeting Bangor

Staff attended a Welsh Energy Research Centre meeting at Bangor.

10-05-07 PhD Viva and visit

Prof Irini Angelidaki of the Technical University of Denmark visited the SERC and examined Godfrey Kyazze for his doctorate degree - congratulations Godfrey

1–05-07 CENEX Naturally Gas Conference, Loughborough University

A member of HRU attended the one-day event, organised by CENEX, which focussed on the production and use of methane and hydrogen for vehicle applications. The event also marked the launch of the National Forum on Bio-Methane as a Road Transport Fuel.

1–05-07 Visit to G24i

A member of staff visited the new factory of G24 Innovations, Wentloog, Cardifff. G24i’s advanced solar cells will be used to power mobile telephones, portable electronics as well as clothing, tents and building materials.

30-04-07 CIWEM Annual Dinner Caerphilly Castle

A student's environmental research project has won the Mike Panes Memorial Bursary Award. She has received £2000 and an inscribed crystal trophy. The award was presented at the CIWEM annual dinner at Caerphilly castle.

Two staff attended the H2NET seminar 'Hydrogen End Use: Combustion', held at the University of Birmingham.

20-03-07 ECM2 Port Talbot

Staff presented at the 2nd Annual Meeting of WERC at the ECM2 building in Port Talbot.

16-03-07 The Metropole, Llandrindod Wells

Staff attended the conference ENERGY FROM BIOMASS IN WALES: THINKING THE BIGGER PICTURE, held at the Metropole Hotel Llandrindod Wells.

15-03-07 CHEG event, Carmarthenshire

Carmarthenshire Energy Agency will be hosting their spring 2007 at Gelli Aur Farm College, nr Llandeilo, Carmarthenshire, at 2pm on Thursday

5-03-07 TSEC BioSys - Case Study Workshop, Imperial College, London.

Members of SERC attended the above meeting which considered the development of case studies and interaction with stakeholders with relevance to energy from biomass in the context of TSEC.

14/15-02-07 UNIDO meeting Vienna
